Date rape-what you need to know to protect yourself

Often times the term is considered scary stranger, rapist attacks in place of dark and desolate. But in fact, more than half the cases of rape said , who knew the victim. This number may be higher because many sexual assault remain unregistered.

Average of friendship, date, or even casual acquaintances does not end in violence, but there's a lot that he does. When forced sex occurs between people who know each other in any capacity, it is known as "Date rape". There is no specific legislation in most States, section covering this type of violence and they treated the same way as any sexual violence reported. It doesn't matter whether you just met or know them for months or even years. It doesn't even matter if you were intimate with them on previous occasions. No one has the right to force myself to another person by sexual at all times.

Rape is often perceived as crimes of passion, but in reality, that couldn't be farther from the truth. Rape is a crime, violence, domination and aggression. It's all about a rapist has over his victims. I use the terms "he" and "his" because about 95-97% of all rape victims are female. Men can get raped, but very rarely.

I'm sure we've all seen TV drama show where a rape victim said she once asked raped, by the way, she was dressed, or something they said or even that it had acted in a certain situation. This thinking couldn't be more disadvantages, and is in fact a large part of the reason why so many sexual offences is estimated to come. This is true even in casual or even intimate dating relationship type. There is no system or script that says you must have sex with someone if you don't want. If this happens, and you are forced or pressured to have sex is rape of any kind, plain and simple.

Today's often complex relationships. Thoughts and ideas of many people are what they see and hear on TV and in movies, newspapers and other media. Sex is so widespread and often expected in many of the show, we watch because it's a terrific advertising ploy. Sex sells and the media will use all of it. Unfortunately fallout from what we see and hear in our daily life is more in the real world and often translates to multiple offences. Relationships require that both parties respect. If someone really loves and respects they never pressure you or threaten you for sex.

Often, drugs or alcohol will play a role in Date rape. Street drugs such as Rohypnol or "roofies" slipped on a potential victim in the form of a drink. Since the drug virtually odorless, and tasteless colors are easily available to the victim without their knowledge. The consequences of this unpleasant drug are ideal for the rapist. They will be following prohibitions reduced reaction time, damaging decision, vision and memory, as well as produce status apparent intoxication. Victims of that drug type reported feeling of paralysis and inability to move or to resist what is happening to them. Deterioration in memory also lets the possible prosecution of the offender, as well.

Your best course of action to protect themselves should be aware that this type of crime can happen often. Know what's going on around you and avoid being drawn into a secluded location, until you are sure that you fully trust person c. Avoid only with someone you don't like. If your instincts tell you there's something wrong, you trust them. Find a way to free ourselves and leave the situation.

If you're in a social environment, such as a bar or restaurant, be alert and watch your drink glass very carefully. Never put it down and walk away. This could allow someone to spike.

Don't drink excessive or afford so intoxicated, you lose touch with what's going on around you. Alcohol has some of the same affect as illicit drugs when in large numbers.

Know what you are looking for before relations dating. Be very clear about what type of relationship you're looking for. Do not allow yourself to be pressured or persuaded to do something that you don't want to do.

Come up with a group of friends and watch each other. Don't be afraid to ask for help if you feel threatened.

Consider purchasing a personal defence, such as pepper spray, stun gun or even personal alarms. Most of these devices come hidden in everyday household items like cell phones, key chains and lipstick cases. The cost is minimal, and their power is outstanding.

Rape is not only physically harm you; emotionally it was a very painful. This can be very difficult, you think, or talk about what has just happened to you, especially when done by someone you know. But for a rape crisis counselor or other professional trained mental health can mean the difference between the restoration of mental health or having to carry the guilt and someone else's action for a very long time.
